To address the growing demand for production-ready AI, AMD and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have launched a strategic collaboration to transition artificial intelligence from experimental pilots to full-scale enterprise deployment. This partnership combines AMD’s high-performance hardware—specifically the new Helios rack-scale platform—with TCS’s industry expertise to provide a scalable alternative to existing proprietary AI infrastructures.
How does the AMD Helios platform differentiate itself from competitors?
The Helios rack-scale platform serves as a blueprint for "yotta-scale" infrastructure, designed to handle the massive compute requirements of trillion-parameter AI models. Unlike more closed ecosystems, Helios utilizes an open, modular design that allows enterprises to evolve their hardware across product generations without being locked into a single vendor's roadmap.
Performance is driven by the integration of AMD Instinct MI455X accelerators, EPYC "Venice" CPUs, and Pensando "Vulcano" NICs. This combination delivers up to 3 AI exaflops of performance in a single rack, focusing specifically on maximizing bandwidth and energy efficiency—two critical areas where standard data center configurations often struggle to remain competitive.
Bridging the gap between pilot projects and production
A primary challenge in the current market is the "reality gap" where AI projects stall at the pilot stage. To solve this, TCS is integrating AMD’s full portfolio—from Ryzen CPUs for AI-powered workplaces to Instinct GPUs for heavy-duty data center training. This end-to-end approach ensures that AI is not just a localized experiment but a fundamental component of the hybrid cloud and edge environments.
The collaboration also includes a significant investment in human capital. TCS is upskilling and certifying its global workforce on the AMD ROCm software ecosystem. This creates a deep pool of experts capable of optimizing AI performance for specific sectors, such as life sciences, manufacturing, and financial services, ensuring that the hardware performance translates into tangible business growth.
Scalable AI for the modern enterprise
By focusing on open standards and modularity, the AMD and TCS partnership offers a versatile path for organizations looking to modernize legacy environments. The strategy prioritizes seamless scaling from cloud to client, utilizing the Ryzen AI 400 Series for local device tasks and the MI400 Series GPUs for enterprise-level training and inference. This provides a comprehensive infrastructure that competes directly with established leaders by offering higher flexibility and specific optimizations for generative AI workloads.
